A look at the Hornet’s signings following Tuesday’s pre-season victory over Wealdstone

Watford put local non-league outfit Wealdstone to the sword on Tuesday night in a highly-competitively friendly, but how did the new lads do?

Here’s my take…

Chris Iwelumo:
Despite only meeting his new team-mates on the day, the big Scot impressed and slotted in seamlessly, making some perceptive runs.

Scored a goal from close-range having got into the right position to miss a couple of decent chances earlier in the game.

Certainly showed no signs of the ‘lead shinpads’ that Burnley fans accuse him of wearing!

Craig Forsyth: Spent the first-half on the left-wing looking comfortable with a couple of decent runs to show for the first 45.

Started the second-half at left-back and not really challenged with the Weadlstone winger.

Comfortable on the ball but could do with getting his head up sometimes. Quite tall for a winger too.

David Mirfin: Part of a couple of hairy moments for the back four as Wealdstone piled on pressure late on but never had anything serious to deal with.

Mark Yeates: Also on the score-sheet with a nice solo goal.

A quiet first half before said goal, often drifting inside from the right. His goal came as a result of switching flanks with Forsyth.

No crosses of note.

Prince Buaben was not involved – presumably due to a knock.
