The Watford Observer has confirmed that strikers Nathan Ellington and Liam Henderson as well as Mat Sadler will all be released at the end of the season.

The trio have spent much of the season out on loan, Ellington with relegated Preston, Sadler with League Two promotion-chasers Shrewsbury and Henderson will League Two rivals Rotherham.

Confirmation of the news is hardly surprising as the three have all failed to set Vicarage Road alight, Ellington most spectacularly of course having scored five goals in 51 appearances for the club.

Still the Hornet’s record signing at £3.25m, Ellington has been farmed out on loan to Derby County and Greek outfit Skoda Xanthi in order to help cover his wages.

Sadler has been sidelined since 2009 with rumors abound that another appearance by the former Birmingham fullback would trigger a further payment.

The fact of the matter is Sadler was never terrible, but unlike John Eustace a deal could never be struck to get the left-back playing.

For Henderson, the wait for a first league goals goes on with his career now extended to 52 games without a goal having taken in loans at Hartlepool, Aldershot, Colchester and now the Millers without finding the back of the net.

At present only Matty Whichelow and Rob Kiernan have contracts set to expire but both are expected to sign new deals shortly.

Good luck in the future to Nathan, Mat and Liam!
