‘Strike partnership CAN work’: H

Returning striker Heidar Helguson has told the Watford Observer that his partnership spearheading the Watford attack with Danny Graham CAN work.

The Icelandic forward, who scored his 70th goal in a yellow shirt in last weekend’s defeat to Doncaster told the Watford Observer that he and Danny Graham can work as a partnership:

‘We showed in the first five or six games that we can,’

‘People seem to be quick to jump on you when you have a barren run. ‘Can the partnership work? Can they play together?’

‘People forget we scored seven or eight in something like five before that so to say we can’t play together is rubbish.’ Said the Icelandic cap.

Evidently Malky’s having his doubts, or perhaps that’s just Danny Graham’s own barren run, after nine games without a goal, Golden Graham is well and truly off the boil. Mackay favoured a Helguson-Cleverley parnership and although the former scored, Graham holds a greater goal threat than the likes of John Eustace and Ross Jenkins who were allowed to parner in midfield with Graham on the bench.

Helguson grabbed two on his return to the Vic’ against Leicester with partner Graham grbbing the other.

What I would suggest is that whilst the team’s form has slipped – no wins in the league or cup for eight games (since the 3-1 vs. QPR at home), Helguson and Graham have hit a lean patch, simple as that.
