As reported by Vital Watford earlier today, David Mirfin has signed for Watford on a free transfer.

The 26 year-old centre-back has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Vicarage Road following his release by Scunthorpe.

Born in Sheffield, Mirfin racked up 95 league starts for Iron who captured him in 2008 from Huddersfield for £150k. Mirfin had previously made 144 league starts for the Terriers.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Sean Dyche described his new capture as ‘what I call a man’:

‘He’s got experience and he’s what I call a man.

‘David is aware we’ve got defenders who have done a great job for us and it isn’t a problem for him – he said he wants to come and prove that he can do it.’

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche has revealed that there are multiple irons in the fire with regards to other transfer targets:

‘Like [Head of Football Business] Ross Wilson said last week, there’s others in the pipeline that’s for certain.’

Welcome to Vicarage Road David.
