Former Watford midfielder Stephen McGinn has joined League One outfit Sheffield United on a two-year contract following his release.

McGinn, 24, links up with David Weir’s side on a two-year deal with his Watford contract set to expire in six days.

The former St. Mirren midfielder spent the second-half of last season out on loan at United’s League One rivals Shrewsbury Town, making 18 appearances and scoring against the Blades.

Signed from the Saints in January 2010, McGinn’s Watford career was effectively ended by injury in February 2011 in a match at Doncaster Rovers.

Despite being awarded a new contract last summer, the Scotland Under-21 international never made another Watford appearance.

Good luck, Stephen.
