The inaugural edition of the Watford Rumour Mill, bringing you all the latest transfer-related tittle-tattle floating around Vicarage Road

It’s silly season down in WD18 as the Watford transfer rumour mill kicks into life once more to churn out an incessant stream of potential comings and goings at Vicarage Road.

These days it’s more the comings than the goings, thanks to the club’s well-connected owners, so here’s our attempt to keep abreast of the rumours doing the rounds.

We will only be giving any credence to rumours perpetuated by sources we trust.

Of course, the bulk of the transfer rumours surrounding Watford focus on potential loan signings from Udinese.

And, with transfer news appearing to move more freely abroad, a lot of rumours concerning the Hornets are emanating from Italy nowadays.

To remind those who weren’t aware, Watford may only loan four players from Udinese and four players from Granada this season.

The name of Marco Davide Faraoni is one which is being thrown around a lot in the last 24 hours with the 21 year-old’s economic rights being fully purchased by the Zebrette recently.

A right-back/right wing back, Faraoni had previously been 50% owned by Internazionale, in line with Italian co-ownership rules, but Udinese recently acquired the remaining 50% of his economic rights at a blind auction.

It is the understanding of Sky Italia, amongst others, that the Italian U21 international will complete a switch to Watford in the near future.

Centre-half Gabriele Angella was linked with a loan move to the Vic’ last summer which never materialised, but according to Sky Italia, the 24 year-old will make the move this summer.

Angella made 14 Serie ‘A’ appearances for Francisco Guidolin’s side last term and has previously been out on-loan at Sienna and Reggina.

At the other end of the pitch, Swedish international striker Mathias Ranegie has been heavily-linked for a few weeks now.

Standing at 6’5, the former Malmo, Hacken and Gotenborg striker, 29, made three league starts for Udinese last term, scoring once.

A full Sweden international with four caps, Rangie has scored once for his country.

Another striker linked with a loan move by Sky Italia is 22 year-old, Diego Fabbrini, who was also linked by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio in the last fortnight.

Spanish website Diario Informacion says that Real Madrid B striker, Javier Acuna is set to join Watford on a permanent basis after spending two seasons on-loan at Girona.

Acuna, 25, has scored 22 goals in just 33 Segunda Division starts for Girona over two seasons and will apparently reject the advances of Spanish side Elche to join Watford.

Sky Sports News in England suggest that Debrecen defender Jozsef Varga is a target for the Hornets after spending last season on-loan at Bundesliga outfit Greuther Furth.

In terms of departures, only Matej Vydra is being linked with a move elsewhere, with agent Ondrej Chovanec telling The Watford Observer of interest from multiple clubs including Werder Bremen and Sunderland, who would like to take the 21 year-old on loan.

The likelihood of Vydra going on-loan any club other than a Pozzo-owned club seems far-fetched so a permanent move looks most likely if a return to Watford is not on the cards.

This one is going to run and run.

Tom, may be worth checking to see if the tax & money laundering investigations in Italy will have any adverse effects to our club. I see that 18 clubs in seria A have been implicated.

I’ve seen that, Andy. I’m going to do some digging this afternoon mate. Cheers.
