Bassini joins the board

Watford owner Laurence Bassini has this evening confirmed he has joined the Watford Leisure PLC board.

In a statement on the Official Site Bassini also confirmed that nobody else would be joining the board as he was comfortable with the current makeup:

‘I’ve spent a lot of time with these three men – Graham [Taylor], Stuart [Timperley] and David [Fransen] – and honestly feel that we’re going in the right direction and that the upheaval which adding new people would bring is not what Watford needs right now.’ Said Bassini.

Timperley and Fransen will remain on the board in their positions as non-executive directors whilst GT continues as chairman.

Bassini also confirmed that Panos Thomas, Sandra Parnell and Tony Samuels would not be involved in the club in any official capacity as first thought:

‘People will have heard three other names being talked about by myself: Sandra Parnell, Tony Samuels and Panos Thomas. There’s no break-down of relationships with any of the individuals, no hard feelings – it’s just a sense from me that we’re okay as we are.’
