Transfer rumour website caughtoffside.com have this morning written that Italian World Cup Winner Simone Barone,34, has held talks with Watford and Leeds Utd over a potential January move.

Barone, who won the World Cup in 2006 making two substitute appearances in the competition, was released by Serie B club Livorno in the summer, claiming that in Italy you are past in when you reach 30.

Also the fact that clubs are heavily incentivised to play young players in Italy means older players are often cast adrift.

It promises to be an interesting January in Vicarage Road!
