Somewhat unsurprisingly, Bravheart boss Malky Mackay has suggested he will look to try and extend the loan deals of Heidar Helguson and Henri Lansbury so that the duo remain Hornet’s next season.
Along with Manchester United loanee Tom Cleverley, Arsenal youngster Lansbury and QPR outcast Helguson have had massive impacts on the Hornet’s battle against relegation to League One.
He has progressed from someone who was inconsistent coming in here to someone who is very consistent now. It is about progression.
“Were he to go back and go into the Premier League, would he play every week and progress every week? I am not sure about that.
“If he comes back to us, he will play another 50 Championship games, he is a year stronger and he is sent back a regular England Under-21 international.
“I am delighted he has been here. He is a fine young man who wants to be a footballer.” Said Mackay of the Enfield-born midfielder.
What really kick-started Lansbury’s season was the move from support-striker to central midfield alongside the rejuvenated John Eustace. A fifth and final goal of the campaign at Leicester, another stunner, capped the England U21 international’s season as a Golden Boy where he made 34 league starts and 3 sub appearances.
The future of Icelandic international Heidar Helguson is largely dependent on the two clubs coming to an agreement regarding the Hornet’s legend’s wages. The former Bolton and Fulham striker is believed to be on around 18k at Q.P.R, half of which has been paid by the Hornet’s season.
“That is going to be a trickier situation [than Lansbury`s] and is obviously at a different end of the pay scale as well. It is something that is going to have to be talked about between Heidar and QPR.” Suggested Mackay.
One thing in the Hornet’s favour is that Helguson will be unlikely to fit into Neil Warnock’s plans at Loftus Road for the forthcoming season. It had however been mooted by Colin W that Helguson was already a Hornet having a agreed a number of installments.
