Harte back on Hornets radar?

Watford could be about to pop back up to Carlisle United on another close season raid – or so ‘understand` Sky Sports – this time with veteran left back, Ian Harte, the target.

The Hornets, who had a bit of a ding dong with the Cumbrian club`s board last summer over the transfer fee for Danny ‘Golden` Graham, are apparently ‘weighing up` a move for the former Leeds, Sunderland and Levante defender as Malky Mackay seeks to add experience to his backline.

Harte is fast approaching 300 career league starts, scored 18 times from left back last season and, if his legs could hack it, would be a decent acquisition – if a little lacking in pace.

No wonder Norwich, Ipswich and QPR are also linked then!

It isn`t the first time Watford have flirted with drafting Harte into the defensive ranks in WD18.

Oh no, the Republic of Ireland legend was on Aidy Boothroyd`s radar according to the redtops in the heady summer of 2008.

With reports that Jordan Parkes has been told he can find himself a new club and mystery man Jure Travner seemingly shunted onto the fringes, a new left back to challenge Doyley would be a worthwhile addition.
