Prospective Watford owner Giampaolo Pozzo has given his clearest indication yet that Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will be involved in the club.

The Udinese and Granada owner told Gazzetta Dello Sport:

‘There are contacts with Watford, so we’ll see.

‘Gianfranco Zola enters in the project, but it’s too early to talk about it.’

Zola has been heavily linked with a move to the Vicarage Road dugout in place of Sean Dyche and does at least come with managerial pedigree.

The Italian forward presided over 80 games during a two-year spell at the Boleyn Ground, winning 23 of those games before being sacked in May 2010 by David’s Gold and Sullivan.
