Javier Acuna has joined La Liga outfit Osasuna on loan until the end of the season, the Spanish club have confirmed.
Acuna, 25, had been linked increasingly with a return to Spain after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by during his first season in England.
When the signing of Acuna was confirmed by Watford last summer, it was said to be a permanent capture, but the statement on Osasuna’s official site says that the Paraguayan joins on loan from Udinese.
A statement read: ‘On this day, Osasuna and Udinese Calcio have reached a definitive agreement for the transfer of Carlos Javier Acuña set until 30 June 2014.’
Signed from Udinese after successive loan spells at Girona, Acuna made just six starts and six substitute appearances for the Hornets, scoring once.
Watford have today (January 11) acknowledged the move on their official website.
