Government statistics have shown that Watford FC is the safest club in the land with only one arrest made throughout the 2004-2005 season.

Chief Executive Mark Ashton told the official site ‘We have always been known as a friendly club.’

In stark contrast, Leeds had 161 arrests, West Ham 97, Plymouth 69 (stop tittering at the back) Cardiff 66 and Leicester 61. Gillingham came out far better with just 3, but no other club could match our record.

Ashton continued:

‘We are officially the safest place to watch top-flight Championship football. That is a record that everyone associated with the club is proud to hold. Going forward we are committed to maintaining these standards and ensuring that everyone who attends a game at Vicarage Road is able to do so safe in the knowledge that they’ll be able to enjoy the game – and not be troubled by people who are hell bent on causing trouble.’

Last seasons average gate was 14 298 despite the poor showing of the team.
