Odion Ighalo has praised manager Quique Sanchez Flores’ game plan for the two nil victory over Norwich City yesterday.

With another good day at the office for Ighalo as he found his ninth goal of the season on the day, he told the Official Site that for him the credit had to go to the gaffer’s game plan and then the way that the team carried it out.

Having won Troy Deeney’s penalty before adding his own goal, he said.

‘The key today was that we pressed them high and we didn’t allow them to play, so they played long balls and that’s what we were waiting for. When we got the ball we tried to play and counter them, so the game-plan really worked and we played really good today. I think today was one of our best games, after the West Ham game, so we want to keep pushing and see how far we are going to go at the end of the season.’

With a long trip to Sunderland up next for the club, Ighalo went on to say that as ever the team work and spirit within the group was a pleasure to be a part of, and for him we’re definitely seeing the benefits of that on the pitch as well as continually showing signs of the further improvement that Flores has been asking for.

‘The teamwork has been great, you see the way we have been pushing ourselves and the team really worked hard from the first minute until the last minute today. We can’t single out any player today because from Heurelho to the top everybody really worked hard and we deserved the three points. We are happy and we just want to forget about today now because it’s gone. We are thinking about the next game because we want to try and win games. We know we’re going to have some difficult times, but if we keep picking up points now we know we are going to be safe at the end of the season.’

The win sees us head into next week in ninth place in the table, ten points clear of the drop zone. Being only four points off the last European spot in the Premier League should give everyone confidence to keep kicking on this year and just see how high we can get following our bright start.
