Hornets Stevie swayed by Scots link

Stephen McGinn – the latest player to nip over Hadrians wall to join Braveheart Watford boss Malky Mackay`s Scottish revolution at Vicarage Road – reckons it was the tartan talent already in WD18 that persuaded him to join…

…oh and he quite liked the style of play as well!

The former St Mirren midfielder signed on the dreaded dotted on a 2 ½ year deal and immediately insisted he`d feel right at home in Watford.

Wee Stevie told the Hornets ‘fficiai site “The Scottish link here swayed the decision for me – Don [Cowie] coming down last January and doing so well, and Malky being a Scottish manager, he probably knows more about me than maybe the fans or other coaches down here“.

With Scott Severin & The Cow already on board, a raft of little known SPL talent – including Morton`s Jim McAllister – linked and Malky`s relentless chase of Scot striker Paul Gallagher there is definitely a distinctive whiff of ‘north of the border` in deep dark Hertfordshire these days.

It`s almost enough to encourage the VitalWatford boys to indulge in a deep fried mars bar (or 2!).

Thankfully, wee Stevie also added “one of the big reasons for coming here was the way the team pass the ball and the way the manager talks about passing the ball“.

Hmmm, so much for us being a bunch of long ball merchants then!
