Hornets confident of Pompey pay up

The Vicarage Road bean counters reckon Watford are “reasonably protected” despite Portsmouth taking the easy way out of avoiding the winding up order that hangs over Fratton Park by going into administration.

The Hornets insist that Pompey are ‘up to date’ with latest instalments that make up the £3.7m owed for Williamson and Smith – but only after the Premier League stepped in to assist the shambolic South Coast side by using their SKY cash to catch up?

?and of course those instalments just don`t stop!!!.

Now, following the inevitable news that Pompey are in administration, Watford`s very likeable CEO, Julian Winter, has been quick to reassure fans that the Pompey spiralling debt crisis won`t impact on Watford`s own empty club coffers.

The Hornets head honcho reckons Watford did their “homework” so well when they agreed to sell Smithy and Willo that they feel they are “reasonably protected” following lengthy talks with the Premier League, Football League and the footballing authorities.

If only Pompey had done their ‘fit and proper` studies so well huh?

Winter told the W`Observer “we have a level of comfort that there will be enough money to settle football creditors, of which we are one”.

If this is not the case then, here at VitalWatford Towers, we want the Watford top brass to stamp their feet and pile even more pressure on Pompey – and if that means not agreeing to accept the terms on offer from the administrators then so be it!

You see, we simply don`t agree with Steve Claridge’s article in the Daily Echo who says “[Portsmouth] are not out of the woods yet. If the creditors don’t agree then Portsmouth will be liquidated, but it rarely comes to that. It’s better to have something than nothing at all.”

Hmmm, really ‘better to have something than nothing at all`??? The least we would expect is Smithy back for FREE.

There is no way the actions of a Premier League should put a Championship club`s future at risk and if that means liquidation is the only way to teach the big league a lesson then so be it.
