Watford`s tour concluded in disappointing fashion this evening as they went down 5-1 to Maccabi Haifa in Germany. This was the second game of the two-match tour and a disappointing way to end an otherwise productive pre-season trip.

The Israeli side built a three-nil lead up by half time as their European Champions League experience showed through. However, Watford were not restricted in terms of chances and Hameur Bouazza, Tamas Priskin and skipper Mahon all missed good chances.

The second half was an improvement for Watford who went down to a clinical finish and an own-goal from Gavin Mahon. On a more positive note, Hameur Bouazza finished a neat passing move from the edge of the penalty area to claim the Hornets consolation goal.

It is worth mentioning however that Richard Lee missed out through injury, whilst Darius Henderson and Tommy Smith were also sidelined.
Meanwhile, back in England, a young Hornets side plus Steve Kabba and Al Bangura beat Wingate and Finchley 3-2 although ‘keeper James Beasent picked up an injury which saw him removed from the action.
