Watford chief Aidy Boothroyd gives his reaction to the famous 2-1 victory over local rivals Luton Town. The Hornets? boss was pleased with his side?s resolute defence, in particularly the two centre halves, he also added that wide-man Ashley Young deserved to be sent off.

?We were not at our best today, but we did a tremendous job defensively. ?I thought our back four were excellent today, as were our midfielders.? They ran tirelessly all afternoon and put in some big tackles when they were needed most. ?Today, and in the face of a strong challenge, we have taken the sting out of Luton.?I am pleased about that and delighted by the centre-half pairing of Clarke and Malky,? the gaffer told www.watfordfc.com.

Ashley Young was sent off for violent conduct and Boothroyd added, ?The referee was absolutely right to send off Ashley Young. ?He should not have done what he did. ?I have no complaints about the decision whatsoever. ?I will be talking to Ashley privately about the matter. ?That, I am sure, will be enough to make sure that there is no repletion and that he learns his lesson,?

Aidy said of Luton ?They are a good team. Like us, they have exceeded everyone?s expectation this season. I am sure they will have a good season. ?Best of luck to them,? he told the club?s official website.
