Dyche: ‘Good value for three points’

Watford claimed back-to-back wins for the first time in over a year yesterday with a 2-1 win against Barnsley.

Manager Sean Dyche was rightfully pleased with his charges after they edged a dull encounter with the Tykes.

Skipper John Eustace put the Goldenboys ahead in the 33rd minute before doubling the advantage in the 68th.

A tidy far-post finish from Tykes debutant Scott Goldbourne failed to ruin the afternoon for the Hornets however.

Speaking to the Official Site afterwords, Dyche praised his side:

‘The game might not have been a thing of beauty today but I thought we were strong and productive.’

Dyche continued:

‘We were good value for three points, in my opinion. And that’s great credit to the group; it’s as if nothing has happened this week the way they’ve played today and on Tuesday – but I can assure everyone it’s had its challenges for all concerned.

‘We had good penetration in terms of forcing the opposition back and creating chances of our own – especially in the first half.’

Opposing manager Keith Hill described the game as ‘boring’ and likened it to gardening, ‘something else that bores me’.

Watford now travel to Nottingham Forest next Saturday and will be looking to continue their strong February showing against the flailing Reds.
