Bryan Earns Full Northern Ireland Call-up

Bright young Hornet`s prospect Michael Bryan has been handed a surprise Northern Ireland International call-up, the first of his fledgling career.

The 20 year-old Harrow, or Wexford-born (dependent on which source you believe), won his first and only Northern Irish U21 cap last April but due to a number of drop-outs from Nigel Worthington`s squad Bryan makes the cut along with a number of other first-timers.

‘Keeper Michael McGovern, formerly a team-mate of Stephen McGinn`s at Ross County is also included for the first time along with Rochdale`s Rory McArdle, Wolves` John Gorman.

Worthington`s side face Turkey in Connecticut on May 26th before taking on Chile in Chillan four days later as preparation for the 2012 European Championships.

Meanwhile, former Hornet`s loanee, Adam ‘Magic` Johnson has earned himself a place in the Don Fabio Capello`s preliminary 30-man squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup in Sarth Efrica. The Manchester City wideman is included in the squad which will take on Mexico and Japan in the next fortnight following an intense training camp out in Austria.

Johnson spent in immensely successful loan spell at Vicarage Road back in 2007 when he was still cutting his teeth at Middlesbrough, scoring 5 goals in just 11 starts, helping to maintain the Hornet`s ill-fated promotion bid. The 20 year-old recently returned to the Premier League with Manchester City, signing from ‘Boro for a fee of £7m, scoring twice in the final fourteen games on the 2009/2010 campaign.

Also included is another former Hornet, veteran ‘keeper David James who will be bidding to break the half-century of England caps having been stuck on 49 thanks to injury. The Welwyn City Garden-born stopper started his career at the Vic` making 89 league starts before joining Liverpool.
