Stephen McGinn built up his match fitness further yesterday, with another 90 minutes for the development XI in a 1-0 win over Stevenage.
Academy scholar Luke O’Nien headed a late winner for the ‘Orns who also featured Dulwich Hamlet winger, Omar Lawson.
The ‘Orns were victorious thanks to first-year scholar O’Nien’s header, but the exercise was more important than the end result for the Goldenboys.
Experienced pro’s Jennison Myre-Williams, Chris Beardsley, Rob Sinclair, Ronnie Henry and John Mousinho all featured for the ‘Boro.
First-team coach Tony Loughlan said to The Official Site:
‘It was an excellent run-out against a good Stevenage side.
‘We defended excellently and managed to take our one clear-cut chance.’
‘Stephen McGinn got his second 90 minutes – and he’s coming along nicely,’ added Loughlan.
Watford starting XI: Gilmartin; Wilmore, Bennett, Tumwa, James; McGinn, Isaac, Jenkins; Massey, Lawson (trialist) & Assombalonga.
