Udinese’s Rodrigo Aguirre, after loans in Switzerland with FC Lugano and back in his homeland of Uruguay at Nacional, has been linked with Watford, who could face competition from Roma.

His agent Pablo Betancourt has confirmed, claimed at least, interest from Watford in the forward.

Betancourt told La Ora Deportiva, via ClubCall: ‘Roma and Watford have asked for information to take Aguirre on loan. It’s unlikely he will remain at Nacional, because he wants to listen to offers from other clubs.’

Of course, the thing that would work in favour of Watford, assuming new boss Marco Silva holds interest in the Uruguayan, is the fact Hornets owner Giampaolo Pozzo is also in charge of the Italian club – making a proposed Vicarage Road swap more possible.

Aguirre, 22, doesn’t have Premier League experience though, which is thought to be a preference for Silva.
