Watford boss Gianfranco Zola is keeping his cards extremely close to his chest on the matter of further playing staff additions.

The Hornet’s boss added seven new faces on Monday evening with Manuel Almunia and Fitz Hall arriving on one-year contracts whilst Daniel Pudil, Almen Abdi, Ikechi Anya, Steve Leo Beleck and Matej Vydra all secured season-long loan deals.

Speaking to watfordfc.com, Zola refused to speculate as to whether he was done adding to the squad:

‘It’s important for me to focus on the players I have got and to make them better every day and we’ll see,’ Said Zola.

‘If we have the opportunity to improve in some positions we will try. But before that I want to pay respect and attention to the players we have got.’

With Almunia and Hall effectively replacing Scott Loach and Adrian Mariappa, Pudil adding competition at left-back, Abdi becoming the creator in midfield, Anya further competition out wide and Leo Beleck and Vydra pepping up the striking options, you have to ask if any other players are needed. A backup ‘keeper would be handy but not essential with Jonathan Bond and Jack Bonham on the books as pro’s.
