Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd offered “a look into the future?” by giving debuts to youngsters Scott Loach, Billy Gibson, Lewis Young and Ross Jenkins in the 1-0 cup win over Bristol Rovers?

?then declared he liked what he saw.

The Hornets boss saw his young troops net a last gasp victory over the experienced heads of the League 1 Pirates and couldn`t hide his happiness with the kids after the game.

He stated on the official site “It was a good game, I enjoyed it from start to finish, you’re never quite sure how the young lads are going to cope but I thought they coped admirably. The way they played was also very good”.

But Boothroyd was quick not to get carried away, insisted his young star’s coming of age could take some time.

He warned “It`s here at the Vicarage Road stage where you`ve got to be brave enough to get on the ball. It might be a little bit too early for one or two – but come January one or two will be knocking on the door”.

That`s ok Aidy. After enjoying 90 minutes of ‘fluid football` for the first time in a long time at the Vic, the youngsters have earnt a little bit of patience.
