Eredivisie side, Willem II, bring a fresh faced but technically gifted squad to the Vic as The Horns play their only pre-season friendly at home!

The Dutch outfit, who have enjoyed UEFA Cup and Champions League spells, may now have an inexperienced feel to them, but they certainly aren’t strangers to the rough and tumble of English football, having faced Ipswich and Northampton Town in the last couple of seasons.

DR WATFORD’S AMAZING BUT TRUE FACT…
Willem II are so-named after an old King of Holland (aka the Prince of Orange) hence the club nickname as the ‘Red and White Kings Army’..Catchy huh?<

KEEP AN EYE ON…
Central Defender, Jose Valencia Murrilo -Travelled with the Ecuadorian national squad to the World Cup and can definately play a bit with the ball at his feet.

Dutch U21 keeper, Kenneth Vermeer – Currently on loan from Ajax and made a name for himself in Holland’s recent success at the U21 Euro Championships.

HALL OF FAMER’S
The Willem Echo will clearly have a photo archive as long as their arm with the likes of Jaap Stam and Flying Dutchman Marc Overmars amongst the list of former players. But Liverpool centre back, Sami Hypia takes the VitalWatford ‘Hall of Fame’ nomination, due, in no small part, to the fact that he’s a Fin who’s adopted a Scouse accent (it’s so very Jan Molby).

DON’T WE KNOW YOU FROM SOMEWHERE?
Past and present players that we kind of know but aren’t that sure of:

Denny Landzaat (Wigan midfielder)
Martijn Reuser (ex Ipswich winger)
Mournir El Hamdaoui (Spurs & Derby reject)
Joe Keenan (Chelsea youngster)

GONNA GET OURSELVES CONNECTED…
Right back, Ibrahim Kargbo, was born in Freetown, birthplace of Glory Hornet, Al Bangura. Kargbo plays for the Siera Leone national team.

Bang Bang should do at some point.

TICKETS
Only a tenner for adults around the ground. Though the Rous and Vicarage Road end will be closed to supporters.
