If Odion Ighalo is to leave Watford before the end of the month it wouldn’t appear this will take him to Premier League rivals West Brom.

According to Sky Sports the apparent West Brom interest in Ighalo ‘has cooled’ since the weekend.

These reports say West Brom had initially been interested in a potential swap deal involving Saido Berahino coming to Watford and Ighalo going the other way. However, with Berahino completing his own transfer to Stoke that option is off the table.

West Brom could still sign a striker but it probably wouldn’t be the Nigerian international with Tony Pulis reportedly deciding if his priority is a forward or defender with a ‘separate deal’ for Ighalo opted against in any case.

Ighalo has definitely struggled from second season syndrome in the Premier League with Watford this term but he’s still a player that clearly has something to offer at Vicarage Road.

But it will come down to Walter Mazzarri and how he views the future of Ighalo should West Brom revive an interest – dropped according to these Sky sources – and/or other clubs’ desire to sign the Hornets striker should it be expressed.
