West Bromwich Albion have rejected a £1.4 million bid from Watford for left-back Paul Robinson.

The no-nonsense defender, who played for the Hornets between 1996 and 2003, is high on the Aidy Boothroyd`s Premier League shopping list but Albion are under no financial pressure and are unwilling to sell the 27-year-old.

Baggies` boss Bryan Robson told the club`s official site: “He’s a big part of the team and a player I need to keep in the squad next season if we’re going to challenge for promotion.”

Hopefully the Hornets will up their bid and the Watford legend will find it too tempting to turn down a move back to the Premiership with his hometown club, who he made over 250 appearances for before being inexplicably sold on the cheap.

The decision to sell Robbo, who always wore his heart on his sleeve and gave everything for the club, for a measly £250,000, will surely go down as one of the worst business deals in the history of Watford Football Club.
