Assuming the rumour and speculation surrounding Quique Sanchez Flores is true anyway he’s ‘under fire’ at Watford.

Before a ball was kicked at Wembley on Sunday the Hornets boss was seeing reports saying his future at the club was unclear with him potentially facing the sack this summer whatever the outcome against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final.

Defeat just increased speculation. Flores himself has admitted he’s ‘bemused’ by this.

Which he’s (in my opinion anyway) got every right to!

Ben Watson feels Flores should have been up for Manager of the Season not under pressure to keep his job with all in the Watford dressing room backing the boss and wanting him to stay at Vicarage Road.

Sky Sports quote him as saying.

‘Everyone in that changing room hopes the manager stays. He’s the best manager I’ve worked under, he’s been fantastic this season. I thought he’d be up for manager of the year. To have a team joint-11th in the Premier League, getting to an FA Cup semi-final and be under pressure, there’s not much more we can do.’

Since the turn of the year there’s little doubting the Premier League form has been poor but with topflight football again assured next season (and never realistically looking as if it wouldn’t) there shouldn’t be any doubting he’s the right man to take us forward.

Watson finished by saying he’s been ‘incredible’ for the club.

‘He’s been incredible for us. I don’t know what’s going on. If it’s speculation, it’s speculation, there’s not much we can do about it. We’ve just got to get on with our jobs.’

Changes aren’t uncommon with the club are they, so you never know what could happen at Vicarage Road.

But surely Flores isn’t going to be sacked, is he?
