Watford are keeping their hands tightly clinched onto Tommie Hoban, and are dismissing interest in the young defender from Brentford.

The Hornet’s academy graduate is a key target for the West London side, but
the Watford Observer have been told
that the club aren’t casting an eye on letting Hoban go.

The interest comes from Brentford boss, Mark Warburton, who was the academy coach at the Hornets, before Hoban’s burst into the first team.

A bid was apparently made for young Hoban, a loan offer with an option to secure his signature permanently from Brentford was rejected.

Warburton has openly commented on his interest in the Irish star, which has left the Hornets’ board fuming.

‘I know Tommie is a very talented lad and is another classy player with a great future in the game,’ the Bees boss said to Get West London.

The fifty-two year old then went on to add, ‘But he is also Watford’s player, and I don’t make a habit of speculating on other club’s players.’

Why are Watford’s intentions of letting Hoban go out on loan rock bottom?

Slightly disappointing to see a wasted talent at the Hornets, with the defender only making eleven appearances in all competitions this season.

A loan spell would do Tommie good as he has impressed in patches of his appearances for the Golden Boys, when called upon, and sitting in the reserves won’t let the hot prospect develop any further.

It’s a very tough battle for Hoban to charge into the first team, coming up against the experienced Bassong and Cathcart, with Angella also in the core of the Hornets’ back line.

So, a loan move away is surely a way to show Slavisa his talents?

Of course, a key factor in not letting the twenty-year old go out on loan to the Bees is because they have suddenly become promotion candidates and are the team to beat, the ones that Watford need to if they want to achieve the expectation of finishing in the top six.

Hoban has made thirty-eight first team appearances since being rewarded a pro deal in 2011, scoring two goals, and still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his Watford deal.
