Forget kiss-me-quick hats, goalscoring centre back Kaspars Gorkss could be the bargain buy from Blackpool this year!

And Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd is reportedly ready to snap up the towering Latvian defender after he requested a scouting mission at Bloomfield Road on New Years Day, according to the Blackpool Gazette.

Riga-born Gorkss has 8 international caps for Latvia but has also been a danger from set-pieces this season netting 5 goals – including a brace away at Derby in the League Cup and 1 in the 3-0 derby win against Burnley (in front of the Watford scouts) at the start of the year.

Whether Boothroyd can tempt Gorkss to uproot and join the Watford bandwagon is yet to be seem – especially with Everton also closing in on the 26 year old – but he has all the attributes to fit well in the Hornets style of play and could be a quality signing.

Gorkss told the Blackpool Gazette “I don`t know about scouts. I just concentrate on my own game and what happens will happen”.
