Watford have turned down an undisclosed bid for defender Craig Forsyth from an unnamed Championship club – believed to be Derby County – as the offer ‘does not meet` their valuation of the player.

Forsyth, 24, has been widely linked with a move to Pride Park on a permanent basis after spending a successful three-month loan stint with the Rams at the end of last season.

County boss Nigel Clough is a known admirer of the Scot and had made his intentions to bid for the left-sided player clear several weeks prior.

Speaking to The Derby Telegraph today, Clough admitted there had been complications over the potential deal.

We`ll give it a certain amount of time and if it doesn`t happen, then we`ll move on to the next one.

“It`s a bit more complicated, that`s all,” said Clough.

“They haven`t got very many contracted players left at Watford, so I think they`ve got to do some business themselves,” continued the Rams` boss.

“We`ll wait so long – we like Craig and he did well for us – but there are a few others out there as well.”
