Southampton captain Paul Wotton reckons Watford offered ‘no threat` and ‘had nothing` in the locker?despite the fact the Hornets ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at St Marys.
Speaking to the South Coast`s finest Daily Echo, Wotton slammed his side for losing to Aidy Boothroyd`s side, insisting “The worse we should have come in at half time was 0-0 because they [Watford] had nothing. They had no threat and we conceded 3 goals – You can`t legislate for the goals we`ve conceded, they`re a joke.”
And the former Plymouth stalwart added “Watford are an experienced side and in the second half they just shut up shop”.
Even Saints boss Jan Poortvliet followed his skipper`s lead, suggesting that Watford produced nothing of note.
The under pressure Dutch coach chipped in with “the only 3 times that Watford were dangerous in the first half they made 3 goals and that is not a good sign”.
Sadly gents, that`s football. If you don`t take your chances you don`t win.
Do you agree with the Saints assessment of Watford`s performance? Or are you still laughing too much at Mr Wotton`s rubbish penalty to take him seriously?
