Watford will have to pay up and then wait patiently if they want to sign Dunfermline`s strapping centre back Souleymane Bamba, according to Pars Director of Football Jim Leishman.

The French born defender on trial at Vicarage Road has been included in the Ivory Coast`s squad for the upcoming Olympics football tournament and representatives of the Scottish Division 1 side told the Dunfermline Press “He`ll [Samba] be away at the Olympics but we can still do deals and Watford know what we want”.

What the Pars want by all accounts is a “six figure fee” for the defender who has a year to go on his contract but is keen to leave East End Park.

Leishman added “We told him [Bamba] we`d let him know if teams were interested in him. Watford are the only ones to get in touch with us and we`ll see what happens.

Samba will line up alongside Chelsea`s Salomon Kalou for the Young Elephants as they face Group A rivals Australia, Serbia and a Lionel Messi inspired Argentina when the Olympics kick off in Beijing.
