Watford are the latest Championship side to be sniffing around highly rated Bristol Rovers midfielder Chris Lines, according to the Daily Star`s sports desk.

So, ok we admit that we missed this latest bit of tabloid tittle tattle through the party poppers streamers and new year cheer filling the air here at VitalWatford Towers after it hit the rumour columns as the clock struck midnight.

The Pirates free-scoring midfielder >(he has 6 to his name this season) is out of contract in the summer and whilst the League One side are surprisingly ‘hopeful` Lines will sign a new deal, Watford are reportedly amongst a swarm of scavengers circling the Memorial Ground.

The 24 year old ‘one-club` wonder looks a good bet on paper but with a £500k+ fee hinted at, Malky Mackay will surely be forced to be an also-ran in a chasing pack containing Cardiff, Leicester as well as League One bigwigs Southampton and Leeds.
