The latest batch of Watford rumours all in one place

Watford might not have done any business since the first week of the transfer window, but it’s been a busy week of rumours, so here’s Vital Watford’s attempt to keep you in the loop.

The Watford Observer are this morning reporting that the Hornets have not been in contact with Chelsea regarding the services of highly-regarded young centre back-cum-holding midfielder, Nathan Ake.

The Daily Mail had reported earlier in the week that Watford – and several other Championship sides – had expressed an interest in the 18 year-old, who looks set to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Another player who has been linked but appears to be required at his current club is Queens Park Rangers’ defensive midfielder, Samba Diakite.

West London Sport had reported last week that the Mali international was interesting Watford on loan, but Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has since said there could be a future for Diakite in Shepherds Bush.

‘No, he`s not [joining Watford]. He`s in the squad for tomorrow [last Saturday],’ Redknapp told West London Sport

‘He played for the reserves in midweek and played very well. He`s a player that might be very much back in the picture again now.

‘Hopefully we can get him going and get the best out of him, and if we can he`s a very good player.’

Diakite has made just one appearance all season for Rangers – that coming back in August when he started their League Cup defeat by Swindon Town.

However, despite Redknapp’s apparent U-turn on the enforcer, The Watford Observer believe that Watford’s hierarchy have not given up on the 24 year-old.

Another name which has cropped up recently is that of 16 year-old striker David Faupala, a French Under-17 international, who if reports in France are to be believed, has been offered a four-year contract by Watford.

Currently at RC Lens, Faupala is also attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Faupala’s agent, Jennifer Mendelewitsch told Sky Sports News that her client is keen on a move to Watford.

‘This is no passing fancy, it is a footballing choice, he wants to play.

‘David has a problem with some coaches. He feels exploited, just like his parents, by the club that has educated him.’

One player who appears to be staying in WD18, for now, is all-action midfielder Cristian Battocchio.

The Italian Under-21 international had been linked in Italy with a loan move to Serie B Padova, but The Watford Observer say that the 21 year-old will stay at the Vic’ at the request of Beppe Sannino.

Battocchio made back-to-back starts against Bristol City and Bournemouth last week and with Lewis McGugan and Iriney both injured against the Cherries, could find himself moved up the pecking order further in the short term.

Battocchio’s agent, Claudio Vagheggi, had said that a loan deal for Battocchio was imminent last week.

That’s all for now, make sure to check back soon for the next instalment.

how about getting Danny Graham back from Hull .He is not doing much there and is loved by Watford fans ,and also get back Assomblonga from the league one club he’s with. And while they’re at it bring back Sordell who seems to have gone missing in the football world

I’m led to believe that Graham is on somewhere between 30-40k p/week at Sunderland, the majority of which Hull are paying whilst he is on loan there, so I don’t see that one happening! Sordell slumming it on loan at Charlton – silly boy, he must regret leaving!
