Watford are in talks with Fulham midfielder Derek Boateng over a potential loan deal.

Boateng is a holding midfielder who has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Craven Cottage since signing from Ukrainian side FC Dnipro last summer.

‘Derek has a chance to go to the World Cup, so we’ve allowed him to speak to Watford,’ Fulham head coach Rene Meulensteen told Get West London.

With the World Cup now less than six months away, the Ghanaian international is keen to secure first-team football in order to confirm his place in the Black Stars’ squad.

Thirty year-old Boateng has made just five appearances for the Cottagers this term, with three of those coming in the Premier League.
