With Hull City head coach Marco Silva resigning earlier in the week, Watford were initially one of the clubs linked with him.

A number of clubs were in fact from FC Porto through to Crystal Palace, but Sky Sports on Friday evening were reporting that Silva was in advanced talks with Watford following the departure of Walter Mazzarri.

Citing unnamed sources, Sky suggested a deal could be reached and formally announced in 24 to 48 hours following his resignation from Hull on Wednesday but in terms of any real concrete news, that was thin on the ground.

If Silva was to be appointed though, presumably he would bring his backroom staff of Assistant Head Coach Joao Pedro Sousa, First Team Coach Goncalo Pedro and Goalkeeping Coach Hugo Oliveira who all departed Hull with him.

Some bookmakers have him favourite with Watford, but others it must be said favour Crystal Palace.
