La Liga side Real Sociedad, who finished sixth in the Spanish topflight last season, have been confirmed as the Watford opponents for the Graham Taylor Trophy next month.

The legendary former Watford boss, who of course tragically died at the age of 72 in January, is being honoured for his achievements at the club, in fact football in general, having guided the Hornets from us through the league to finish as runners up in the old First Division in 1983, the 1984 FA Cup final and promotion to the Premier League in 1999.

Spanish club Sociedad will come to Vicarage Road on Saturday 5th August, kicking off at 3pm.

Watford will also face Aston Villa, where Taylor had two spells from 1987-1990 and 2002-2003, in a tribute to the former England boss on 29th July.

That game will see all profits going to charity – due to pitch renovation at Vicarage Road this will be played at Villa Park.
