Watford will face Scunthorpe at Vicarage Road in the FA Cup after being paired with the Iron in Sunday`s 3rd round draw.

The Hornets have only ever faced the Iron once before in the history of the world famous cup competition (sponsored by AON) but that was 70 years – when they recorded a 2-1 win at The Old Show Ground in December 1938.

It took a little while for lucky Ball 40 to makes it way out of the velvet bag and with plum ties against Aston Villa, Sunderland, Bolton and er, Kidderminster Harriers still up for grabs, you can`t help but feel the cash strapped Hornets board wished for a big money-clash.

But Scunthorpe gaffer Nigel Adkins (he used to be their coach you know) won`t share the disappointment of only drawing Watford, despite claiming to want Liverpool.

Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph “I can think of 1 or 2 managers of league clubs who went out this weekend in the 2nd round who would have loved the chance of a trip to Vicarage Road – it`s a tie that we are going to look forward to”.

Scunnie make it through to the 3rd Round after a comprehensive 4-0 win over the footballing giants of Alfreton Town.
