Following Watford’s unfortunate 3-1 defeat at home to Eddie Howe’s Burnley Malky Mackay said he was pleased with the amount of chances his side were creating in spite of a fourth defeat in five.

‘We’re still creating chances and that’s why I’ve got to make sure I instil into them that belief. We are creating chances and had got the chance to win the game. Said the 38 year-old Scot.

‘So on another day we win that game because we’ve got enough chances to win two games, but we didn’t and that’s something we’ve got to make sure we pick ourselves up from.’

The gaffer was rightfully less happy about the challegne from Clarets left-back Danny Fox on winger Will Buckley which saw Bucko end up in the Lower Rous:

‘I thought it was an outrageous challenge. I asked my physio which ankle was it and he said both.

‘I looked at it from here and it looked a dreadful challenge. I’ve seen challenges that are 10 times less ferocious than that be sent off.’
Fumed Mackay.

Burnley boss Howe was pleased with the result but also accepted his side were ‘loose’ at the back at time during the victory:

‘The quality of our goals added into that, apart from the first one, we’re really pleased with.

‘We lived on the edge for a while. Our defending at times was a little bit loose. We can defend better than that, but going forward we always look like we’re going to score and we created a number of chances.’
