Brendan Rodgers immediate future has been under an intense media spotlight all week and player sales pressure simply won`t go away but the Watford gaffer insists this week`s 6 pointers can give him “a bit of breathing space”.

The Hornets battle against relegation really gathers pace over the next 7 days in a Vicarage Road double header against Norwich and Coventry – 2 teams both scrapping for their lives.

Speaking to the Watford Observer, a seemingly unfazed Rodgers insisted “I feel with these two teams being in and around us then it is going to be important for us to win these two games?.It won`t make or break our season but everyone knows the importance of it?It could give us a bit of breathing space”.

With the bottom 3 – Forest, Charlton and Doncaster – all losing again in midweek [Tuesday] Watford stay out of the relegation zone ahead of the Norwich clash – a fact not lost on the gaffer. He added “?it could be more healthier by the end of Saturday if we have six points on the board.”
