Watford had been linked with a potential move to bring Hull’s Marco Silva to Vicarage Road before Walter Mazzarri was canned, now a new Hornets boss is definitely needed he continues to be mentioned as a serious candidate.

Silva’s about to announce his future plans, Hull want him to stay on and head their Championship bid next season but the Portuguese coach is in high demand and knows he’s got options in the topflight of England and across Europe.

Sky Sports reports Silva’s now returned ‘from trips to Portugal and Switzerland to discuss his future with Hull chairman Ehab Allam’ and it’s not only Hull, possibly Watford too, waiting to find out his plans. It’s claimed another three Premier League clubs are interested along with Porto, who sacked their boss Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday.

Crystal Palace reportedly have a strong interest following the resignation of former England boss Sam Allardyce on Tuesday with Palace chairman Palace chairman Steve Parish ‘a big fan of Silva and the type of football he has played on Humberside.’

An apparent clause in the contract of Silva, 39, would allow him to leave the KCOM Stadium if he decided he wasn’t ready to follow Hull into the Championship.

Watford have also been credited with an interest in Claudio Ranieri, also linked with Crystal Palace, who wouldn’t be drawn on speculation.
