So the hard up Watford board have finally decided to sell their soul (ooo that`s a bit strong?) and the naming rights to the Vicarage Road Stand with it!!!

These are cash strapped times in deep, dark WD18 and it seems everything that is sellable will be sold off to boost the club coffers.

Following on from selling bricks to season ticket holders and giving us the ‘chance` to join a Legends Club (meet Gary Porter for £1,667 a year!), comes news that even the ground isn`t excluded.

Next up, the naming rights to the now long standing Vicarage Road End stand?. and its yours for just £30k (+ the dreaded VAT) – bargain!

The club reckon they are looking for local companies or even individuals (the Dr Watford Appreciation Stand has a ring to it!) to put their name quite literally up in lights?

And it`s all been inspired by a man who bought us the Tesco East Stand, Evening Telegraph North Stand and Jewson South Stand at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Let`s not forget though it`s not the first time the naming rights for the stand were sold off by the commercial team. Oh no, who can forget the Vicarage Road Stand – sponsored by The Entertainer during the ill-fated season in the top flight?

Surely a case for trade descriptions if ever there was one.
