Perhaps Watford aren’t as poor as we were all mis-informed. Having swooped for Mark Tyler earlier in the day, Aidy Boothroyd has brought in Darren Ward on loan.

The former Hornet’s centre back left Vicarage Road in 2001 after a successful four year stint in WD18.

Since then, the 30 year-old has done the rounds joining Millwall first before a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers saw him end up at Crystal Palace in time to lose to Watford over two Play Off leagues before a Summer move to the Molinuex. Two seasons Ooop North haven’t gone well at Ward has returned South for the month.

Ward will go straight into tonight’s squad replacing Sam Sodje whose loan spell was cut short by a knee injury aggravated whilst at the ‘Vic. Sodje made one appearance in Yellow, the defeat at Sheffield United.

Good luck Sam and welcome back Darren!
