Udinese have tonight (Thursday) confirmed the deal which sees Cristian Battocchio move to Watford on a season-long loan deal.

The 20 year-old midfielder tweeted this morning to say that he was heading to Vicarage Road on-loan and tonight the Udinese official site has confirmed the deal.

A statement on the site translates as follows:

Udinese Calcio also announces that it has sold a temporary sports rights of the Company English footballer Cristian Battocchio Watford FC.

Battocchio, born in Rosario, Argentina, becomes Gianfranco Zola’s 11th summer signing and the eighth player to move between Udine and Watford in a loan agreement.

An Italy U20 cap with dual Italian and Argentinian nationality, Battocchio started his career in his homeland with Newell’s Old Boys before moving to Udinese in 2009 where he has made five first-team league appearances to date.

Watford are also expected to complete the loan captures of defenders Gabrielle Angella, Jean-Alain Fanchone and Neuton as well as striker Fernando Forestieri.
