Tőzsér: ‘I’d Like To Stay’

It may not be unexpected news that Hungarian midfielder Dániel Tőzsér has a desire to remain at Vicarage Road beyond the summer.

As Sky Sports reports, the 28-year-old has recently spoken to Hungarian channel NSO TV about his time as a Hornet, the praise he has received from the fans, and what his future might hold.

‘Of course it is nice to hear kind words,’ Tőzsér said. ‘I haven’t missed a single minute since I have been here, I feel good and I have the trust of the manager, so I think I signed to a good place where I can play for an ambitious club.’

Tőzsér has indeed started and finished every game since joining from Serie A club Genoa, where he was reportedly unsettled since joining from Belgian side Genk in summer 2012. Director of Football Gianluca Nani knew of the player’s unhappiness at the Italian club, and the loan was positive for all parties considered.

Watford moved for the Hungarian in the January transfer window, and his addition is seen by many fans as being the best bit of business that has been done by the club all season.

‘Here everyone knows what his job is and I think we have a very good squad,’ Tőzsér continued.

‘I am here on loan until June 30, but the club have indicated that they have started to have talks with Genoa about staying on.

‘But it’s not that simple because the two clubs have to agree about me and also with me. I’d like to stay because the club’s aim is to gain promotion to the Premier League.’

With it being quite clear that both the club and the player want to make Tőzsér’s move permanent, it is hoped and expected that a permanent deal will go through early in the summer.
