Top-scorer Troy Deeney is set to return to Watford’s matchday squad for the visit of Yeovil after recovering from a dead leg.

The Hornets No.9 returned to training this week after missing last weekend’s defeat by Bolton Wanderers at Vicarage Road.

Midfielder Lewis McGugan returns from suspension and is likely to slot straight into the midfield, but there are still a number of injury and illness concerns for Gianfranco Zola to contend with at the back.

Defenders Lloyd Doyley (hamstring) and Essaid Belkalem (ankle) will also miss out once more, with Belkalem set to be out for up to two months after tweaking his ankle ligaments.

Tommie Hoban (ankle) and Almen Abdi (foot) are both long-term absentees, whilst Ikechi Anya (calf) is sidelined for three weeks after picking up a knock on international duty.

Josh McEachran and Javi Acuna are both doubts due to illness, but Manuel Almunia, who was substituted due to illness last weekend, returned to training this week and will be selected.

Gabrielle Angella is still a doubt, but there’s better news regarding Sean Murray, who has overcome a back spasm which kept him out of the Wanderers game.

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson has a few problems of his own, with Chris Dunn deputising for the injured Marek Stech in goal.

Last season’s top-scorer, Paddy Madden, will not be involved after being transfer listed earlier in the week, but Nottingham Forest striker Ishmael Miller could make his debut after signing on loan.

There were two further loan deadline day additions, with forward Adam Morgan joining on-loan from Liverpool and John Lundstram arriving from Everton.

Left back Jamie McAllister is unavailable due to a shoulder injury, and left-sider Liam Davis could deputise.
