Watford Observer sources have this afternoon revealed that the Pozzo family takeover is ‘imminent’.

After yesterday’s bombshell, that will come as a great relief to Hornet’s supporters who had heard little about to potential buyout for 48 hours.

The Watford Observer also re-iterate that they expect former West Ham chief executive Scott Duxbury to take a role at the club, alongside former Hammer’s director of football, Gianluca Nani.

Meanwhile, present owner Laurence Bassini has released a statement through to Official Site, to correct a few popular misconceptions.

The Stanmore businessman was once again at pains to (rightfully) state the good work he has done for the football club during his tenure, as well as ironing out some of the details of the takeover.

Bassini said:

‘If there have been difficulties recently it is because I have been trying to pay off the bond holders and Barclays Bank.

‘Going forward I have protection for the club. In response to press reports I never said I would receive £12million for the club.’

The Hornet’s owner also detailed his concern over former employees trying to sully his name:

‘I know there have been people doing things they shouldn’t have been doing at the club, they have been found out and have left. Since then they’ve been spreading rumours about myself.’
