Former Watford striker Marvin Sordell picked up another 45 minutes for Stuart Pearce’s Team GB last night as he started at Wembley against the UAE.

The Bolton Wanderers striker impressed as he made his first start for Great Britain, leading the line with Welsh pair Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs providing the support from wide.

Despite impressing seemingly everyone, including the ever-pessimistic Mark Lawrenson, Sordell was hauled off at half-time by Pearce in order to make way for Daniel Sturridge.

Eventually Sturridge got GB’s third goal to kill the tie off, but the change had looked a strange call at the time.

Sordell replace Sturridge at half-time in the 1-1 draw with Senegal in GB’s opener just three days before.

Congratulations Marvin!
