With Watford once again linked to a number of little known Scottish youngsters already this summer, our Braveheart boss, Malky Mackay, has confirmed what we have known about him all along – he loves a good ol` Scottish bargain!!!

Don the Cow, Scott Severin and wee Stevie McGinn have headed south over the past couple of summers on cut price packages and the Hornets growing Tartan army in WD18 shows no sign of slowing as we head to into a summer of transfer speculation?

Now, Malky Mackay has told that he is more than happy to shop in the Scottish Leagues, telling the popular www.videocelts.com website “there`s better value to be had from the Scottish market“.

He`s even hinted that the English lower leagues are pricing their own talent out of any move in order to get a bite of the large tasty money pie on offer?

Malky added “Clubs know that they can pick up players cheaper in Scotland than they will get in the lower division?Someone from League One or Two who hits a bit of form can suddenly have a £2m tag on their hedd, there`s been value to be had from Scotland“.

And so what reason does ol` Braveheart put on why talent north of the border all too eagerly jumps over Hadrian`s handywork to head south?

It`s all to do with character apparently! Our gaffer reckons “The character of the Scot is that they don`t want to be beaten. They`ll give everything that they have [for 90 minutes] and are pleased to be given a chance at this level because you are 46 or 49 games from the promised land of the Premiership.”

Hmmm, here at VitalWatford, we expect to be announcing the arrival of Queens Park part-timer Barry Douglas and St Mirren winger Andy Dorman any time soon then!!!
